• Al McAllister is a Brazilian born artist from Rio Grande do Sul, the land of the gaúchos (cowboys of the pampas).  He rarely paints horses however,  or cows for that matter, his main link to the local customs of his birthplace is the daily chimarrão (mate herb tea), which he prepares each morning.

• He received a BA from Pratt Institute, NY, in 1976. He currently resides in Niterói,  where one has an incredible view of the city of Rio de Janeiro across Guanabara Bay.  He is represented in São Paulo by the gallery office of Fernanda Milhomens fernandamil@terra.com.br.
